Privacy Policy

OpenVolley ("OpenVolley," "we," "us") provides a tournament management platform that volleyball organizations use to publish events, manage divisions and brackets, and handle team registrations. This policy explains what information we collect through the OpenVolley platform, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password, or — if you sign in with Google or Facebook — your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique account identifier from that provider. We never receive your Google or Facebook password, and signing in this way does not give us access to your Google or Facebook account beyond that basic profile information.

Player profile information. You may optionally add details like birthdate, gender, location, home court, handedness, height, shirt size, preferred court surfaces, and a short bio to help organizations and teammates get to know you.

Registration information. When you register a team for an event, we collect the captain's name, email, and phone number, along with the team or partner details needed for that division.

Organization information. Organization administrators provide details about their organization, such as its name, location, branding, and a contact email for event related notifications.

How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

  • Operate your account and let you sign in, including via Google or Facebook
  • Process and manage event and team registrations
  • Send transactional emails, such as registration confirmations, team invitations, and notifications to organization administrators about new registrations
  • Display player and team information to the organizations and events you register for
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the platform

Payments

OpenVolley does not process or store payment card information. Where an organization collects entry fees, they may share a Venmo username, and payment happens directly between you and the organization through Venmo — outside of OpenVolley entirely. We are not a party to that transaction.

Sharing of Information

We share information only in these situations:

  • With the organization(s) whose events you register for or belong to, so they can manage their tournament
  • With service providers who help us operate the platform, such as our email delivery provider
  • With Google or Facebook, only as required to complete sign-in with those providers
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of OpenVolley, our users, or the public

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

OpenVolley uses session cookies solely to keep you signed in and to protect your account. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and its associated data at any time from Profile → Delete Account. You can also request deletion by contacting us at the email below.

Children's Privacy

OpenVolley is intended for use by team captains, players, and organization administrators aged 13 and older. If a junior division requires information about a minor, that information is provided by a parent, guardian, or team captain on the minor's behalf.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
